Hondo I. Sackett

Molly was not sure when exactly, she fell asleep, but she knew she did, as she woke up to wind blowing, the sound of distant thunder, and the splatter of rain as it came in through the windows. She shivered as the wind blew over her mostly bare form, and she sat up groggily to look outside at the storm. The rain drops blew and splattered randomly, and the ground was not yet wet, telling her that the storm was still approaching, and could possibly get worse. She shivered as another burst of wind blew in through the window and across her bare body. As her mind slowly pulled out of its sleep fog, she crossed her arms across herself to block the wind, and placed her hands on her bare breast pressing her firm cold nipples into her palms to stop the icy sensation. Though she did not wake up as hard as Hondo did, she was still not the morning person like Zoey was, and she needed a few minutes before fully being able to process things. A bust of thunder overhead made her wince, her canine like ears being overly sensitive to loud noises, especially when not ready for them. Her ears laid down and she grimaced at a second roll of thunder, as the sound hurt her physically, but there was little she could do about it, but bear it as best she could. Though there was little she could do, the adrenaline shot to her system got her mind working much quicker, and she started to processed her surroundings and her situation. The temperature had dropped fast, and it was getting colder, so she searched for her tank top and pulled it on, as her hands and arms were not doing the trick alone. It was damp still, so it was almost useless, but it would work for the moment. A quieter thunder clap, followed by a whimper in the seats in front of her, made her remember about the rabbit wessen sister. She opened the curtains that separated the seats laid down into beds, and found them both asleep. The red-head was still out cold, but the blonde, though asleep, was whimpering and shivering, having just Molly’s light jacket on, that was open and pulled up in the back from her moving around, so it covered mainly her arms, shoulders, and a little of her chest only. Her body was still damp, and the wind made it worse. Another roll of thunder caused both Molly and the blonde to wince, and the girl whimpered again. Molly frowned, as she knew there was little she could do for her. Like her, rabbit wessen generally had very good hearing, and loud noises were just painful. Molly looked back at the storm quickly before pulled out the blanket she had folded up earlier, and she covered the sisters again, before rolling up all the windows. The windows helped muffle the noise a bit, but did not stop it enough to stop the pain, but it was all she could do for them for now. With the blanket now covering the sisters again, the blonde had stopped shivering, which she figured was the best outcome for their situation. With the sisters cared for as best she could, Molly slipped on her boots, and grabbed her pants, tucking them under her arm, before climbing out of the truck. As she climbed out the rain got harder, and even at a trot, she was soaked before getting around to the back of the camper, where the door was. As she opened the door, the wind almost took it from her, and her trying to hold onto it, almost pulled her off the steps. Her tank top blew up, exposing more of her that she had thought would be exposed as she fought it, but after a brief struggle, she managed to keep ahold of the door and shut it behind her as she half fell into the camper. As she picked herself up and looked around to see most of the others staring at her again, as they had earlier. Her shirt might as well be off, as it was completely see-through now as opposed to the slight translucent her sweat had caused earlier, her hair was soaked and dripping on the floor, and her now wet panties clung to her, revealing the shapes of what they hid beneath their surface. Though most of the expressions were the same, their locations were different, and this time Kiah ignored her as if nothing was going on and it was Maggie’s turn to stare at her, wide eyed. “You alright?” Ruth asked, as she gave Molly a worried look. Though it was warmer inside, it was still much cooler than it had been earlier, as the windows had been open when the storm hit, but now they were shut. Ruth still seemed a bit damp from sweating, but her nipples were now stiff and making sharp outlines of themselves on her t-shirt, telling everyone that she was also no longer too warm. Of the others, Maggie had her lab coat back on, April and June had overshirts on now, Mae had dressed again and added an overshirt, and Kiah, who sat on the couch, having her arm inspected and cleaned by Maggie, had again donned her t-shirt, though had not added an overshirt. “I’m fine. Just a bit wet and a bit cold, now too.” Molly replied. “Didn’t need to tell us you’re cold.” Kiah said a bit flatly. “Your thermometers are sticking out further than Ruth’s, and hers are out there.” Molly looked at Ruth, who blushed a bit, and then down at herself. She had felt them in her hands earlier, as she had tried to warm them, but did not realize how much they visibly stood out like that. Mae shook her head, “Kiah, stop. Yours and Aprils were sticking out more than Ruth’s are now, before you two added clothes.” Kiah raised an eyebrow, but did not look at her as she quipped a reply, “You’re just jealous, cause your nips are so tiny.” Mae frowned, “Tiny? I.. maybe they are, but I think they look cute…” She lifted her shirt, showing her breast to Molly, “They are cute, aren’t they?” Molly just looked at her blankly for a moment as the water from her hair dripped down her face and shoulders, before dripping down her body and hitting the floor. “.. Uhm, yeah… Yeah, they are cute.” Molly replied a bit flatly. Though she was a girl, girl talk did not always come easily to her, as she had not had many female friends, had worked around mostly men, and grew up apart from her family, so she never knew a sibling bond like these girls seemed to share. June looked down sadly, and mumbled, “I wish mine were bigger like Aprils, or cute like Mae’s.” “They are cute, too!” Mae replied. June shook her head, “No they aren’t.” “They are so light pink they almost white. First time I saw June topless from across the room, I thought she didn’t have nipples.” Kiah replied matter of fact like. June sighed deeply and sat back into the seat, slouching a bit, but she didn’t reply as she knew Kiah was right. “Can’t we talk about something else?” Ruth asked. “Y.you’re nipples are c.c.cute, June. I wish mine w.were more like them, instead of b.big and d.d.dark.” April replied, stammering and hesitating a bit. It was only then that Molly noticed that April was balled up in the recliner seeming very nervous. “What’s wrong with her?” Molly asked, nodding at April. Another clap of thunder sounded, causing Molly to flinch again, though the camper muffled it more, so it did not hurt as bad. “Eep!” April shrieked as she balled up tightly for a moment as the thunder sounded. “Big tits is afraid of lightning.” Kiah replied “Afraid they will attract lightning, the way they stick out there, I guess.” “Why are you so mean?!” April whined. “Okay, enough nipple talk! God help me… I swear all you four know how to talk about is body parts, who you want to #$@! you, and how you want it done!” Ruth exclaimed in a frustrated manner. Kiah ignored her, April had opened her over shirt to look at her chest, worried that her nipples stuck out too much, June still sat slouched and looking down, and Mae gave Ruth a blank look. “When using your body to try to look sexy and having sex is all you’ve done, what you were forced to do, or all you know, you don’t have a lot else to talk about.” Mae replied quietly, feeling the sting of Ruth’s comment. Ruth sighed, leaned back against the counter, and slouched. “Damn, I did it again… I’m sorry girls… Mae turned away from her with an embarrassed look. “It’s okay… I guess we’re just a bunch of stupid little whores who don’t know better, so what can you expect?” She said quietly. “Mae, you’re not, and I am sorry.” Ruth said. “Yeah, sorry you grew up as such a prude that swimming naked made her feel like a bad-ass. Probably was too prudish to even talk about her body, even with her sister… Ruth, if you need help knowing what everything does, don’t be afraid to ask. We might be too stupid to know all the names, but being a little whore lets you know what everything does, and then some.” Kiah replied snidely. Ruth nodded, “I deserve that and more.” “So, you owe me three favors instead of two now?” Kiah asked. “Favors?” Molly asked. Ruth gave Kiah a sour look before turning to Molly, “Yeah, uhm, I told her I owed her a couple favors for, uhm, you know… What I said earlier.” “Oh?” Molly replied. Kiah shook her head, “Don’t act like you don’t know… OUCH! … Mae confessed to spilling her guts about me, as Ruth is a terrible liar. I know you all know now.” Molly wrinkled her nose as she looked questioningly at Maggie, would had just pout a piece of gauze on Kiah’s arm and wrapped it. “What happened to Kiah’s arm?” Molly asked. “You don’t have to pretend to be worried about me.” Kiah said in a quieter, flatter tone. “And no need to change the subject… Secrets out now. I’m a #$@!ed up, crazy little whore, who isn’t worthy of anyone. Big surprise…. I’ll be surprised if Hondo and Fernando don’t throw me out as soon as you all tell them. Don’t want the others contaminated by the useless, psycho slut.” Maggie patted her other arm before continuing, “W.we don’t think about you like that.” Kiah’s frown deepened and she rolled her eyes, “*snort*… Yeah right.” Maggie frowned and just continued with the bandages, finishing up quickly before sitting down. “Maggie is right. Now, I told you, we’d not tell them and I’m so sorry about all this… I shouldn’t have judged you so harshly or let my frustrations get the better of me. It’ll stay between us, I promise.” Ruth said, trying to keep her voice soft, as she really did feel bad for stepping in it and hurting her feelings so badly today. “Oh, and Molly isn’t going to tell the handsome cowboy to protect him for the crazy, broken trollop? Yeah right.” Kiah said, trying to sound calm but sounding very defeated. Molly shook her head, “I wasn’t pretending to be worried, and I wasn’t trying to change the subject. And though, if you like my Hondo I think you should be honest with him about your past, I won’t tell him. Not unless I have to, and the only reason I’d feel I have to is if you lie to him.” Kiah wrinkled her brow as she squinted at Molly in a questioning way. “Why? Why would you do that for me?? Especially after I was mean to you?” Kiah asked, seeming confused. Molly shrugged, “I don’t know. I guess I knew you act that way because of some way you felt, because of something that happened to you. I mean, I felt pretty stupid for thinking there was just pretty underwear, but it’s not worth having hard feelings over.” “I don’t want sympathy.” Kiah said, looking down at the floor as she spoke. Molly shook her head, “It’s not sympathy, though I am sorry you’ve had it so rough. No one, child or adult, should have to bear all of that. I don’t know if I’m strong or able enough to help save people like Hondo and Fernando do, but I want to help. The one thing I’ve noticed is that after being saved physically, most of us still go through a lot mentally and emotionally, and have a long journey of learning new ways of living and learning to live with ourselves and our pasts. Now, I don’t know how I can help with that process, but I think it’s one way I can help save others, and take some stress off Hondo and Fernando. I’ve got a lot to learn myself, and a lot of my own issues to deal with, but if I can help, even in a small way, I want to.” Kiah sighed deeply before replying, “*SIGH* …. I’m not sure I can be helped or be of any help.” “You helped Valentine, didn’t you?” Ruth asked. She looked up at Ruth for a moment before looking down again, “Maybe, but not enough, obviously.” “She’s still alive and seeming to try to get better. If not for you she’d be dead, and Hondo would be grieving over that, as would his girls. You saved a life, and saved three people a lot of pain. I’d say that was a lot. Maybe you’re not ready for help, but if you need it, I want to help.” Molly added. Kiah sighed again before shrugging, “I don’t know. If I do, I’ll keep you in mind, but I’d not lose any sleep over me. I’m resilient, whatever that means.” “It means you recover quickly from bad things happening, and can stand against difficult situations, adapt, and face adversity, without being beaten down or broken.” Ruth said. Kiah shook here head, “Heh.. I’m pretty sure I’m beyond broken, but… I am still alive and still able, so maybe I am.” Molly nodded, “You are. More than you know… Now, about your arm?” Kiah looked down at it, “Pphbb! It’s nothing to worry about. Just where Val accidently shot me when I was trying to take the gun from her. It was my own stupid fault for pulling the gun towards me, but I just didn’t have the strength to push it away. She’s a lot stronger than she looks.” Molly nodded, rubbing her jaw at the memory of their fight, “Yeah, I found that out too… Is it healing alright?” “It was,” Kiah said with a shrug before shooting a look at April, “That’s until Miss Scared-y cannon nips jumped at the first little thunder boom, ran over me, and caused it to open up again.” “I said I was sorry!” April protested before looking down at her chest and whining softly. “And they aren’t that big. Why are you so mean to me?” “Kiah, stop picking on her. I mean, her nips are the biggest of the four of us, though I think Scarlett’s are close. No one had bigger ones than Aurora, though. You could almost milk her!” Mae said. “You’re forgetting that cow wessen girl who worked for the wessen fight ring. Those were like sausages!” Kiah said. Mae nodded, “I forgot about her, but hers were so light colored they just didn’t seem as big. Aroura’s were very dark.” “What about the goat girl, uhm, what was her name?” June asked quietly. “Heart? I forgot about her. Her nips might not have been larger than the cow girl, but they were almost completely black.” Mae said. Kiah nodded, “Yeah, hard to forget that artillery. I hear they made her rub ice on them between rounds to keep them stiff. They supposedly pierced them too, but some guy ripped out one of the piercings with his teeth. I heard he and a few others went deaf from her screaming after.” Ruth sighed deeply and shook her head as she went back to work. Molly snickered to herself softly, just before another loud thunder boom went off that almost shook the camper. Though everyone looked uneasy at that one, April shrieked and balled up tightly, being the worst one effected, and Molly put her hands over her ears and closed her eyes as the pain went through her head. Molly shook her head after the pain had mostly passed, “That one really hurt.” “Hurt? Oh, you have sensitive hearing due to being wessen, don’t you? I didn’t even think about that.” Ruth said. Molly nodded, “Yeah, though not all wessen do, most Canine wessen do.” “Any other kinds have that issue?” Mae asked. Molly nodded, “Yeah, Rabbit wessen do, as well as most mouse, cat, and.. fox… oh no.” “What’s wrong?” Ruth asked as Molly quickly headed to the loft. “Tonya, she’s bad afraid of it. I forgot until now… damn. I need to check on her.” Molly said quickly. Molly left them before anyone could answer, and grabbed a robe from the bathroom, quickly shucking off her tank-top and dropping her grey bikini swimsuit bottoms, before putting the robe on and entering the bedroom. In the room, she found the TV on, playing a western movie with Cowboys and such on it, Zoey sitting with her ears flat down, of which she had not seen her do before, and Macey clinging to her. Tonya was not in sight, but the quivering lump under the blankets she assumed was Tonya. “You girl alright?” Molly asked quickly, in a worried tone. Macey nodded, “Were f.f.fine.” “That last one hurt my ears.” Zoey said with a grimace. “It hurt my too, sweetheart. How’s Tonya?” Molly asked Zoey shook her head, “Tonya really doesn’t like storms at all, after what our old master used to do to her and others for punishment.” Molly nodded as she moved around the other side of the bed, “She told me about that.” Molly pulled the cover back, to find Tonya, in just her panties, shaking under the blankets. “Tonya, it’s alright. I’m here now… Where’s your shirt?” Molly asked “It w.w.was hot un.un.untill th.th.th.the st.storm h.h.h.hit.” Tonya stammered. Zoey grabbed a ball of white cloth from the bed and handed it to Molly, “Here it is. She took it off earlier as she was trying to sleep but was all sweaty.” As Molly took it she saw that the younger two were both wearing short shorts and Zoey was wearing a tank top, though she had an overshirt pulled on and unbuttoned now, and Macey wore a hooded sweatshirt. She did not think about how hot up here it must have been for them until now, and she felt bad about not checking on them earlier. She knew she wasn’t even Tonya or Zoey’s adopted mother, nor Macey’s adopted aunt, like Valentine had been, but being with Hondo made her feel responsible for them, especially in his absence and she felt bad for neglecting them until now. It was all new to her, as she never had to be responsible for others, really, before, and she felt that she was failing them and Hondo with her accidental neglect. Molly put a hand out to Tonya, “Come on out. Put this on and I’ll sit with you until the storm passes.” Tonya took her hand and came out from under the covers, before taking the shirt and putting it on. Molly sat down beside her and as another quieter clap of thunder sounded, Tonya grabbed onto her, shaking. Molly winced a bit, but fought it as well as she could, taking hold of the scared teen with one hand and stroking her hair with the other. “It’s alright, Tonya. I got you.” She said soothingly. Tonya shook as she held on to her, “S.s.sorry… I .. I feel so stupid a.a.about being so afr.r.raid of storms.” Zoey reached out and grabbed one of Tonya’s hands, “It’s alright, Tonya. I don’t like them either. They hurt my ears.” I’m not afraid of them.” Macey said, with a tone that lacked conviction. Another boom had both Molly and Zoey wincing again, as Tonya and Macey, respectively, tightened their grips on the one who held them close. After about an hour the storm let up and faded into the distance. Tonya ended up falling asleep again as the storm ended, since she had gotten almost no sleep so far due to the heat, and Macey relaxed and sat up again, as Zoey put on a different moving picture show, an animated one this time, as the cowboy one had ended. Molly made a note of asking Hondo to show her the whole cowboy one, as it seemed interesting and sad at the same time, as the old cowboy on the movie was killed by outlaws, but a bunch of kids who were helping him avenged his death, taking out all the bad guys on their own. She had not heard of a story line like that before, but in some ways the old cowboy reminded her of Hondo, and the kids of some of those they saved. It made her wonder if there was more hope for the future, if they could only save more young folks and show them hope and a path before it was too late. As the girls started into the new moving picture show, Zoey’s stomach growled loudly. “Mmmm,” She groaned, “I’m hungry.” “Me too.” Macey replied. “When will lunch be ready?” “I don’t know, but I’ll go check and see if I can help.” Molly said, as she eased herself away from the sleeping Tonya. Molly covered Tonya up before slipping around the bed again, straightening up the robe she had on, and heading into the main area. “How’s lunch coming?” Molly asked. Ruth sighed, “*sigh*… It’s coming, though it’s running a bit late.” “You need any help?” Molly asked. “Shouldn’t you be trying to sleep? You were up all night and couldn’t have gotten much so far.” Ruth said. Molly shrugged, “Maybe, but doubt I’ll get much now, and if I do and we spend the night, I’ll be up all night.” Ruth nodded, “Makes sense… Sure, if you want to help, you can help with the finishing touches.” Molly jumped in and assisted as need, helping Ruth and the girls finish tasks they were on. “So, you know when Hondo’s getting back?” Kiah asked almost conversationally. Molly’s brow furrowed a bit, “I’m.. not sure, honestly. He and Fernando thought he should be back around lunch time and it’s one o’clock now.” “So, he should be back any time now, right?” Kiah asked. Molly nodded, “I should think so… I hope he’s alright.” A few minutes later a knock was heard at the door and Kiah scrambled to her feet, “I’ll get it!” Ruth, “No, I’ll get it.” Kiah slid to the door, “But it might be Hondo!” “Kiah, wait!” Mae said but it was too late. Kiah stood in the open doorway, and saw it was Fernando at the door and not Hondo. “Oh. It’s you.” She replied a bit dejectedly. “Don’t start with me, Kiah. I just want to know when lunch would be ready for everybody.” Fernando tells her. Ruth and Mae step up behind Kiah and Mae pulls her away from the door with Ruth saying “I’m sorry about that. Lunch is almost ready, we just have to package it for you. Need anything special?” “I’m going to need a vegetarian meal and two meat meals.” He explains Ruth. He then looks at Mae before pulling out his radio to show her, “Let me and the others know what is going on, you can call them in groups to order and get the meals they need ready, and I’ll get the meals for Jeanette and her group, the Den Mother and then my group is last as they do not have a radio. You can save my meal for last but call me to get and give out Jeanette’s and the Den Mother’s meals.” “Alright, I’ll do that.” Mae replies. “Many thanks. I’ll be in my camper waiting for your call.” Fernando replied, before shutting the door and heading back to his camper. “Kiah, you really need to stop running for the door.” Mae said. Kiah frowned at her, “But I thought it might be that handsome cowboy coming back.” Ruth shook her head, “Kiah, this is his camper. Why would he knock?” “Well, I don’t know. Maybe because he thinks were all naked in her, because it gets so hot when we’re cooking?” She replied with a shrug. Ruth shook her head, “I doubt he thinks that.” “I doubt that would stop him.” Molly says with a grin, getting Kiah even to smile softly as Ruth blushed at the thought. After a couple minutes of silence Kiah sighed deeply, “Alright. I don’t know why you guys think its so wrong for me to answer the door, but I’ll stop.” “It’s not so much that its wrong, but you have tasks to do, and you always have to say something…” Ruth paused, not wanting to step in it again. “Witty?” Kiah asked. Mae shook her head, “No, I think she was more thinking inappropriate and obnoxious.” “Those are big words.” June said quietly. Kiah scowled, “Guess all little whores know how to be is inappropriate and ob.. ob.. whatever that word was!” “I didn’t mean it that way, Kiah. I just think you could present yourself better, and when they come during meal times, they are usually coming to talk to me.” Ruth said. Mae shook her head, “Don’t always get upset. Maybe if you listened to those who care about you, you’d realize that they are only trying to help.” “Like anyone cares about me.” She said, rolling her eyes. “We do care, and they are just trying to help you be a better person, not hurt you.” Molly said. “They just want to change me, cause they don’t like me. No one likes me.” She muttered. Molly sighed and shook her head, as she was not sure how to get through to the girl. She was hurting, it was obvious, and the day had been hard on her, with old hurts being dredged up and feeling exposed and judged by all of them now. Though she wanted to say more, she left it alone, as did everyone else in there, and they finished their work. A few minutes later, at about one-thirty, the radios in the camper came to life, one being a vehicle mount Hondo had installed into the wall, and a few others being Ruth’s and the Bunny girls’ radios. Molly had left her’s in the cab of the truck, not thinking about grabbing it before running through the rain, but with all those inside the camper, hers was not needed at the moment. “Attention, Attention. This is The Medic speaking. Lunch is slightly delayed but it is almost ready. Bunny One will be making the calls to your groups one by one. You will make your order that you need over the radio and then be on your way to pick it up at the Cowboy’s Camper. It should be ready by the time you get there. Now listen carefully, because of the passing storm, it has gotten very cold outside, so when you go get your order, put on a heavy coat or jacket and what other outer layers you are comfortable with to keep you warm when outside. I repeat – it is very old outside to wear your heavy coat and things to keep you warm when outside. Any questions?” Fernando’s voice called out over the radio. The girls all looked at each other, but none picked up theirs or said anything. Karl speaks up, “Who is going to be called first? And it is very cold in my camper; this thing that is supposed to heat up the place is not working.” Ruth nodded at Mae, who had pulled hers out of her pocket, “Go ahead. We should be ready for everyone.” Mae nodded before keying the microphone, “You will be first, Karl. What do you need for your group?” “Well, it is just Maribelle, Teri and I...” Karl begins. “OK then, it is one meat meal and two vegetarian meals. Bring a bag or a box to carry it all.” Mae explains. Fernando keys up “I’ll be there to go with you to check out your heater.” Karl lets out in frustration, “See you then.” It did not take the ladies long to get the meals ready, and when the knock at the door came, Kiah didn’t dive for it like usual, leaving Mae and Ruth to handle things for once. When Ruth opened the door, she found Fernando and Karl standing there, and Fernando handed in a box for them to put the meals into. Neither of them said anything to them, though they were not sure if it was just because they had nothing to say or if they were upset with them for having lunch late. Either way it was not pushed, as it was not new news that Fernando did not like to be pushed for anything, let alone explanations. Mae called out for the others one at a time, with Miniya and Minerva’s group being next, followed by the teens, Marvin and the other sheep girls, and then Ruth’s sister and younger cousin, who were working on biscuits and corn bread for supper already at Ruth’s camper. Not long after Susana and Esther left, there was another knock at the door and again Kiah stayed still and Mae got up to answer it, finding Fernando standing there with a couple boxes and his wagon. “Mister Fernando! You here for Jeanette’s meals? You know what she needs?” Mae asks. “I’m here for both Jeanette’s and the Den Mother’s meals. First Jeanette, she would need six meat meals. The Den Mother would need 12, six meat and six veggie meals.” Fernando says as he places the boxes on the camper floor. “We’ll get them ready for you. You want to wait inside where it is warm?” Mae asks. “No. Just close the door to keep the heat from coming out, I’ll be out here waiting.” He tells her before reaching for the door and closes it. “He didn’t want to come in?” Ruth asked. Mae shook her head, “I guess not.” “Probably doesn’t want to deal with me… No one does.” Kiah said quietly, being the first words she had spoken in a while. Molly said nothing, but she wondered if it was about her. She felt that she was not approved of by Fernando, and maybe even be seen as in Hondo’s and Valentine’s way of getting back together. Despite their conversation that morning she still felt unsure. She knew all she needed was Hondo’s approval, but as good as Fernando had been to them all, and as close as he and Hondo were, she wanted Fernando’s approval too. He had said the could possibly be friends someday, so she knew it was probably just her own insecurities scream at her, so she did her best to silence them. In a couple of minutes Mae picked up the first box set up for Jeanette’s group, opened the door, and held it out, waiting for Fernando to take it. Fernando takes the box and puts it in his pull cart. April and June step up to the doorway carrying the other box with the meals for the Den Mother and her brood, placing it on the ground. Fernando takes the box and places it into his pull cart. “I’ll be back to get my meals when I’m done giving this out, so about less than five minutes or so.” He tells them. “We’ll... be waiting...” June lets out nervously before Fernando turns about and starts heading to Jeanette’s camp area. As the door shuts, Kiah sighed deeply again, “*sigh*… You think he’s going to throw me out?” “He won’t if you stop trying to start shit with him.” Mae replied. “I’m not trying to start anything! I’m just… flirty! I can’t help it!” Kiah replied defensively. April shook her head, “I don’t know what you’re doing, but I’d not call it flirty.” Kiah scowled, “Because you’re so great at flirting, you’d know? Is that it?!” April looked down sadly, as she knew she was bad at flirting. “Kiah, don’t be mean to April. And you do come off a bit too… over the top.” Mae said. “Over the top? How??” Kiah asked. “You could tone it down a little, and not be so abrasive. Fernando has done a lot for us all, and how I hear it, if it wasn’t for him you’d still be in fight town.” Ruth added. Kiah scowled, “Yeah, I guess that is true.” “So, maybe you should be more thankful and nicer to him.” Mae said. “You mean, offer him my pussy, don’t you?” Kiah asked quietly. Mae gave her a firm look, “I didn’t say that! Don’t put words in my mouth!” “You could talk to him more nicely, and maybe give him a genuine thank you. Have you ever done that?” Ruth asked. Kiah thought for a moment, “…Uhm, I’m not sure… I mean… I don’t think I have.” “You can be thankful and show you are without giving your body to him. I mean, you like Hondo so you should be flirting with and putting effort into making him happy and not pestering Fernando, right?” Ruth asked. Molly looked up at her for a moment before looking back down with a frown, of which Ruth caught. “Oh, Molly! I’m sorry, I didn’t mean you weren’t enough to make him happy!” Ruth exclaimed. Molly shook her head, “Don’t worry about it. I’m fine with him having more than one woman, I am, and I’m alright with not being woman enough.” “He said you’re not woman enough?” Mae asked. “Hmm? Oh, no! No, no. He always says I am, but I know I’m not. And that’s the truth. I look at my self and what I can do and my own brokenness and see what he needs for help and who he needs beside him and I just know I’m not enough. None of us are. Valentine, before she got messed up was closer to what he needed than I am, but I’m not sure even she was enough, though that’s not because I though I could fill the gaps… I honestly wonder why he took me in. I know I didn’t give him much of a choice at first, but he needed my care after he was hurt. Now, I’m not sure he does, but I feel like I need him. I’d be lost without him… I.. I can’t lose another man. I’ll gladly share him as long as I can have time and love from him, and I don’t care how many I have to share him with, as long as he’s still partly mine and I’m fully his.” Molly replied. “That’s so sweet.” Mae said softly. “Are you sure you’re fine with all that? Like I said earlier, I understand sharing, but… I’d not want to share with too many. I’d want him to myself a couple times a week at least! … Though maybe I could do one night a week with two night once a month at least… If it was the right man, of course.” Ruth said. Molly nodded, “I get it, and I’m sure I’m fine with it. Maybe I don’t know him completely yet, but I don’t see him as having twenty women and only giving me a day or two a month or anything ridiculous like that. He has a lot of stress, though, so I don’t blame him for taking a little relief and pleasure where he can. It has to be hard for him, and I can’t always be there or available.” Ruth nodded, “I guess you are right, but it’s sort of a new concept for me. We’ve always heard about men who had more than one wife, and we knew a few, but our church always said it was bad, though they never could really point out where the bible called it a sin. Some of them even had side women, but they were always slaves or some gal who worked in town, or something like that, and everyone whispered about it while acting like it wasn’t happening. Some of those who whispered loudest were doing the same thing, come to find out.” Molly shrugged, “People are like that sometimes. And for the bible, I couldn’t tell you. I know a little of it, about the redeemer and all, who came to save us, but I’ve never read it all.” “That sounds like an interesting story.” Mae said. “It’s not just a story, its true. It happened. God became man and died and rose again for us, so if we believe our sins are forgiven and we can go to paradise when we die.” Ruth said. “You mean, we don’t just die and it’s over?” April asked. Molly nodded, “Yeah, from what I was told if you believe you go to heaven, if not you go to a place of punishment.” “Why would God punish us, for not knowing?” Mae asked. “From what I understand, its not him punishing us. He made hell, the place of punishment for the devil and his demons.” Ruth said. “Th.they are real??” June asked. Ruth nodded, “Yup, and because of sin we go there if we don’t accept the free gift from our savior. But God doesn’t want us there or to send us there. We can see him in nature and a lot of things, which should make us want to look for him, and if we look he says he will show us the truth. IF we reject it, we are sending ourselves to the pits of fire.” “All I see is a lot of evil out there, and my d..dad used to say that book was only good for toilet paper.” Kiah said quietly. “But, what kind of person was he?” April asked. Kiah shot her a hard look before looked down and slumping in defeat, “You know what kind of man he was… he was an evil bastard.” “So, maybe he told you wrong?” Mae suggested. Kiah hugged her knees to her chest, “There was a lot he said and did wrong to me and mom… Maybe he was wrong there too.” After a moment of silence Kiah changed the conversation. “You think I should apologize to Fernando and thank him?” She asked. Mae nodded, “I think you should.” Kiah sat up a bit, “Yeah, I’ll.. I’ll tell him I’m sorry for being a smelly cunt and thank him for saving my cute ass so I can #$@! Mr. handsome someday.” Mae face palmed herself and Ruth turned and raised her eyebrow at her, “Didn’t you just hear anything we talked about??” Kiah nodded, “Yeah, and you’re right. I need to apologize and thank my savior for saving this sexy little #$@!ing machine! There was a knock at the door about then and Kiah Jumped up. “That has to be him! And I’ll tell him right now!” Kiah said. “No!” Mae said as she jumped up after her. Kiah opens it and is about to start something but Mae grabs and pulls her back into the camper, while April grabs the door before it closes and June walks up to the open door with a large paper bag of food. Fernando puts the bag into his pull cart before getting up and looking at her. “Thank you for all your hard work. Call me if you need anything. I’ll see what I can do to help.” Fernando tells them, though June was directly in the doorway to receive it all. June was too shy to think of anything to say before he left, so as he walks away, she shuts the door. “Let me go!” Kiah growls at Mae. Mae let her go as the door shut, “Fine!” Kiah marches to the door and opens it, but finds Fernando was long gone so she slams it. “Why did you do that?! Why did you stop me?! I was going to apologize and thank him!!” Kiah exclaimed angrily. “Because you were going to say things to piss him off!” Mae exclaimed. Like what?!” Kiah demanded. “Like sorry for being a smelly cunt and thanking him for saving your sexy ass, and such!” Mae exclaimed. “I wouldn’t have said that!” Kiah exclaimed. “You just said it before he knocked on the door!” Mae retorted. “That doesn’t mean I would have said it that way to him?!” Kiah argued. “What in your track record makes me believe you wouldn’t have said exactly that to him?!” Mae yelled back. Kiah started to say something but stopped, looking at April and June as well, but they both looked down. “Doesn’t anyone trust me? Even a little??” She asked. June just shrugged, and April said nothing. “Kiah, we can’t.” Mae said. “Really?? Come-on June? April? You both too??” Kiah asked sounding a bit desperate. June just shrugged again. “Well, you are really mean to me sometimes, and you get us in trouble.” April said quietly. Kiah slumped back onto the couch, “But… I thought we were sisters and.. and trusted each other?” Mae frowned, “Do you really trust us?” Kiah looked up at her and opened her mouth to argue but closed it again. After a moment of uncomfortable silence Ruth Spoke up, “Uhm, why don’t you girls grab your food and go rest in your campers for a bit. I’ll get stuff started and you can come back in a couple hours to help for a bit. It’s been a long day for everyone.” Mae nodded, “Yeah, sounds good. Thanks.” As they started to grab their food, April looked over at Kiah who sat plopped on the couch. “You coming, Kiah?” April asked. “I don’t want to go where I’m not wanted.” Kiah said quietly. Mae frowned, “You’re wanted, you know that, so stop pouting.” Kiah glanced up at her with an angry look, “Wanted by those who don’t trust me? Tell me another story.” Mae frowned at her reply. She did not mean to hurt Kiah but she feared what Fernando would do to them if Kiah kept annoying him. She knew she did not mean to, but at the same time she seemed to not be able to help herself, and the risk was not one Mae wanted to take. She felt bad, as if she was betraying Kiah, after all she had taken for them, but Kiah’s attitude was a plus as a bunny girl, but a negative for them in this new life. “You can stay if you want to, Kiah.” Molly offered. Kiah nodded, “I’d like to… thanks.” Kiah then turned to Mae, “See? I can thank someone without being inappropriate or ob-boxcilous.” Mae frowned and turned to the door, with the other girls following her, leave Kiah to sit with Maggie, Molly, and Ruth. As the former bunny girls leave, Molly called Macey and Zoey out, so they could eat at the table. The girls ran out, quickly and dove for the table, sitting and ready to eat before Ruth and Molly could sit their food in front of them. “Sorry for the wait.” Ruth said. “It’s okay, Miss Ruth. Thank you!” Zoey said. Macey just started into eating but Zoey cleared her throat and gave Macey a look. Macey looked up at her with a questioning squint, and Zoey nodded at Ruth. It took a moment, but it dawned on her what Zoey was pushing. Macey half swallowed her food, and spoke while chewing the rest. “Fanks Miff Roof.” She said quietly through her half-chewed food. “You both are welcome,” Ruth replied, adding. “But we shouldn’t talk with our mouths full, its not polite.” Macey frowned and swallowed quickly. “Sorry.” She muttered. “It’s alright. I’m not trying to embarrass you. Just trying to help.” Ruth said. “Thank you, Miss Ruth. We know you just want to help. Papa says you are a great help and he and Uncle Fernando don’t know what they’d do without you!” Zoey replied. Ruth blushed, “Well, I just try to do what I can.” Molly walked over and put a hand on her arm, “You do a lot, Ruth, and we all see it. Thank you. I should thank you too for watching out for them and helping them with their manners. Mine probably need some work too, honestly. And I should have corrected them so you didn’t have to. I’ve only started to realize how neglectful I’ve been in picking up some of the duties Valentine dropped on Hondo, like watching the girls and helping them learn and grow. Thank you for helping with that.” Ruth shook her head, “Don’t worry about it. It will take time, and no one expects you to be Valentine. We all help as we can, and try to fill in where there are gaps.” “I know I’m not her, and sometimes I wish I was, not in her current state that is, but the one before all of that. The one Fernando and Hondo trusted, the one who got things done, the one who they leaned on. I’m not sure I’m strong enough to be all that, but I want to be, For Hondo, for his girls, and for Fernando and his daughter. I owe them both a lot.” Molly said with a frown. “It’s okay, Molly.” Zoey piped in. “If Papa loves and trusts you, then I love and trust you too!” Molly smiled softly, “Thank you, sweetheart. That means a lot to me. Macey shrugged but didn’t look up from her meal, “You’re not Aunt Val, but I guess your okay.” Ruth and Molly both chuckled. “Heh, I’ll take that as a compliment. Thank you, Macey.” Molly said. As the girls finished up, Molly tried to offer Kiah some food but she said she was not hungry. Ruth tried too, but Kiah did not look at her, and just shook her head. Molly shrugged as Ruth looked at her, as there was nothing they could do right now, as Kiah was just hurting too much at the moment. As the girls finished up, Molly, Maggie, and Ruth grabbed their food and began to eat, leaving Kiah to her thoughts. Kiah’s thoughts were in turmoil, as they jumbled in her mine and screamed in her ears. She had not felt so alone in a long time, nor had such a hard time blocking her memories out. Over the years she had carefully blocked thoughts and memories as they came, one at a time, hiding behind her façades, and keeping people at arm’s length emotionally speaking. Other than Billy and Luna, Mae had been the first who she had let in. Mae had always tried to mother the girls, acting like she was somehow above them all, and it annoyed Kiah at times. But at times she had appreciated it as well, as her advice and kind words made her feel cared for. She had tried to spare the girls, the ones she called sisters, pain, taking on the harder, more dangerous clients if she could, and it had cost her dearly at times. The cost she felt was worth it, and if she died in the process, she figured maybe if there was some almighty being that created and ruled all, maybe giving her life to spare one of the others would atone for her worthless existence. All these thoughts and memories seemed to flood her mind now and she worked to hold them back and rebuild the mental dams, as she feared losing and exposing herself to all for what she was. She fought her own mind, and fought to pull her façade back into place, as she thought though many hated how she acted, they would hate the real her more. She did not want to lose, to fall apart, to expose who she was now, not when she felt so close to actually finding life outside of the pain, suffering, and hopelessness she had lived in for most of her life. With feeling that the other girls had turned their backs on her, it made it worse. They were the only family she ever felt she had, or had mattered to her, besides Billy and Luna, but even they left her. Billy was angry that Kiah would trust Mae about some savior, as it had to be a lie. Bille said that no one would save worthless little whores like them, but Mae seemed so sure and Kiah was not sure how much longer she could last if they did not escape. The mental and physical pain had gotten almost too hard to smile through, and her will to live had been dying. She might have looked fine on the outside, but her body hurt from all it had been subjected to. She wanted it to end many times, but her hatred of suicide stilled her hand from ending it herself. A rescue seemed like a fairy tale, but someone was actually there to pick them up, and the one that took them to their new home and put them up in his own camper was this big, handsome cowboy. On top of that, this dark haired, mysterious medic, of whom she could not deny was handsome too, though she and Mae had a difference of opinions on which was more handsome, he gave them medicine, and within a few days the pain lessened so much physically. Now it was practically gone, but the pain in her head grew worse, as the pain in her body no longer helped take her mind off her past. Back then she had no hope either, and now she had it but it seemed to flicker like a flame of a candle in the wind, at times glowing brightly and at times dimming to the point where one was sure it would be extinguished. As she sat there, she was sure the flame would be extinguished, as she was not sure how much more she could take. The girls soon finished their meals and retreated back into Hondo’s bedroom to watch the moving picture shows again, and shortly after a sleepy looking Tonya stumbled out, still in just her tank top and white bikini-cut panties. “I thought you were still asleep.” Molly said. Tonya looked at her grouchily, though she did not mean to, “Zoey got her energy back after eating and was sitting there bouncing! … *Sigh* … She doesn’t do great cooped up. She tries, but she needs to run around.” “It’s too dangerous out there for that, especially with Hondo gone.” Ruth said. Tonya nodded, “Yeah, I know. Which is why I didn’t get after her, but I wasn’t going to get any sleep until she settles down some too. So figured, I’d come get some lunch.” “Oh! Of course! Sit down and eat. Other than Valentine and her sister, you’re the last one.” Ruth said as she set food out on the table. “Thanks.” Tonya said sleepily as she sat down. “You feeling any better?” Molly asked. Tonya shrugged, “I don’t know… Still tired, but the storms gone, so I guess that’s good.” “I’m sorry I didn’t come sit with you sooner.” Molly replied. Tonya shrugged, “Eh, it’s alright. I appreciated it, but you don’t owe me it. I just feel stupid for freaking out so much during storms. It’s like I can’t control it at all.” “We all have those things. And I don’t mind… I know I’m not Valentine, but I want to be your friend. I love Hondo very much and just want to be a part of all of your lives, if you’ll let me.” Molly replied. Tonya took a bite and finished chewing before replying, “It’s alright, and I appreciate all you’ve done for Papa, I really do… I’d like to be friends, I guess, but… *sigh* … I don’t know. Between what val did to me, how she made me feel, and everything that happened with Hector, and… you know… I just don’t know what to feel right now. I’m sorry. You’ve been nice to Papa, Zoey, and Me, and I know I’ve not treated you the best at times, but… “ “You’re just feeling vulnerable and trying to be protective of Zoey and Hondo, I understand that, and I appreciate that. But I’m not your enemy, I hope you know that.” Molly replied. Tonya nodded, “I do, but know if you ever become my enemy, if you ever hurt either of them, I’ll take you out before Uncle Fernando even knows what you did, and trust me, that guy knows shit about you that you have no clue about. He scares me to death at times, but for some reason he cares… I don’t know why he does, but he does.” Molly nodded, “You are right and I don’t blame you. I never want to hurt any of you and if I do, then end me so Hondo doesn’t have to. I never want to put him through what Valentine had, and rather have you end me before that happens.” “Then we have an understanding… I know I hurt him too, so I’ll try not to judge too harshly, but if I start to mess up again… Well, maybe I can trust you to take me down a notch. Maybe if we watch each other we’ll be less likely to mess up.” Tonya replied. Molly nodded, “Maybe so.” “Oh, and Molly, uhm, your not my mother.” Tonya added. Molly frowned a bit but nodded, “I know.” “Then don’t act like it, please. I would like to be friends, for Papa’s sake, but I don’t need another mother. The last one didn’t work out so well, and I’d rather just not have one as opposed to having that again.” She replied. Molly nodded again, “I can understand that, and I’m sorry for all you’ve gone through.” Tonya just shrugged and went back to her meal. A few minutes later the door opened again, and in Maria V came with Valentine following her. “Damn, did that temp drop! Burr!” Maria V. exclaimed. Valentine did not say anything, but stood with her arms wrapped around herself, shivering, as all she had on was jeans, t-shirt, and a light over shirt, as was the older Valentine but she was not shivering. Had Valentine not appeared so mopey, it would have been hard to tell the two apart, aside from the scar on the older Valentine's face. “Where is your Jacket, Val?” Ruth asked. “She left most of her heavy clothes in the coat closet, as she didn’t think she’d need them. I’d be freezing too, except I had a clean pair of coveralls I’m wearing under my clothes!” Maria V. said as she unbuttoned her over-shirt and lifted her t-shirt to show the canvas coveralls underneath. “Uhm, you two should sit and we’ll grab you some food.” Ruth said. Molly walked up to Valentine, who stood shivering, “Uhm, you could have came and grabbed your coat, Val.” Valentine looked down, “I d.d.didn’t w.want to b.bother anyone.” Molly frowned and grabbed a warm blanket from the shelf over the recliner and walked back to Valentine and put it over her shoulders. “That should help.” Molly said. “Th.thanks.” Valentine said, the shivers starting to lessen quickly with the blanket over her now. Valentine looked around a bit and noticed Tonya sitting at the table, seeming to ignore her. “T.tonya?” She called out softly. Tonya did not look at her, but remained looking at her food, though she stopped eating for the moment. Valentine sat down across from her, and gave her a sad, longing look. “Tonya, P.please.. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry for what I said to you, how I lashed out at you. I k.k.know it doesn’t seem like it, but I l.love you, and I’m so sorry for the hurt I caused.” Valentine pleaded softly. Tonya looked up slowly, giving her a hard look, “You think sorry covers it??” “Tonya, I ..” Valentine started to say but Tonya cut her off. “No, Val! Sorry doesn’t cover it! I could forgive what you did to me, maybe, but you have no idea what happened after, what you drove me to do, who’s arms you drove me to, and the lies they put in my head. I was wrong for believing them, but I’d never heard them if you hadn’t drove me away. On top of that you hurt papa and then I did, because of the lies I believed. I am having a hard time forgiving myself for what I did and maybe I should be more forgiving of you because of that, but I can’t be. I can’t forgive you for hurting papa, Zoey, Uncle Fernando, or even Molly. No, I don’t want to hear a sorry from you until Papa can forgive you. When he does, I’ll think about it.” Tonya said coldly. She stood up and grabbed the rest of her food, “I’m going to go eat in the bedroom.” Valentine slumped in her seat as Tonya left, her words piercing her heart and soul. She had tried and struck out with everyone but Zoey so far, and it was almost more despair than she could take. Some raised voices from the bedroom were heard, “Moma’s here?! I want to go see her!” “No, not unless Papa is here.” “But, why?!” “I don’t trust her.” “But it’s Moma! She won’t hurt us.” “She did once before, so not until Papa is here!” “Awww.” “Is Aunt Val alright?” “Does it matter? Didn’t seem to matter to her if we were alright for a while.” “That’s not true! Moma loves us!” “It’s all my fault… She’d not have been hurt if I hadn’t teased Zoey…” “Don’t blame yourself. She’s an adult and should know better, but she’s just too selfish.” “Shh! Not so loud! We don’t want Mama to hear and have her feelings hurt!” As the voices quieted down, Molly sat down across from Valentine and gave her a worried look. “Are you going to be alright?” Molly asked. Valentine shook her head, “I don’t know… I messed up so badly, I’m not sure they will ever forgive me. I love them so much, and yet I did all this… Tonya is right… I can’t be trusted or forgiven after that.” “They will forgive you, just give them time. You hurt them a lot, so it’s not going to be easy for them to get over. The trust part might take longer, but it will come back in time.” Molly replied. Valentine looked up, “I hurt you too, and.. and I know it doesn’t seem to be worth anythin’, but I am sorry. I’m sorry for what I did and said to you, and to the girls, and to Hondo… I’m sorry and before you tell me to shove it, please know I’m thankful for you bein’ good to him and the girls, and lovin’ him.” Molly looked down for a moment before looking back up at her, “I.. I forgive you.” Valentine just stared at her, like what she had said was foreign to her. “You.. you what?” Valentine asked. “I forgive you.” Molly repeated. “But.. how? Why??” Valentine asked. Molly looked down again, “It’s not easy to forgive what you did to Hondo and the girls, but what you did to me I can easily forgive. The rest I forgive but I can’t forget it.” Valentine looked down sadly, “Oh… I, uh.. I understand.” Molly looked back up, “I’m not sure you do.” Valentine looked back up at her, “Then please, please help me understand.” “*sigh* … I know we all mess up at times, none of us are perfect, but what you did… I have a hard time fathoming. I love Hondo and I care deeply about those girls. You had so much and you threw it away as opposed to letting them help you.” Molly said. “I.. I couldn’t.. couldn’t control the hurt, the fear, and the anger and I just.. just… I don’t even know why I did it… I hate myself for what I’ve done! Why.. why can’t anyone see that I hate that I did that… It wasn’t me there, I.. I wasn’t me.” Valentine answered sadly. “I know how that feels.” A voice said quietly from the couch. The looked over at Kiah who sat there, her knees up to her chest again, and she was seeming to stare through them. “What?” Valentine asked softly. Kiah glanced up at her, “I know what it feels like to not be yourself, to do things you don’t like or want to do, to act ways you know will piss people off and make them not like you, but feel like you can’t help it… I’ve lived most of my life there… I hate it… I hate me… But.. but I’m more scared of showing everyone how weak, stupid, and broken I am, so I let the other me run the show. I hate her so much, but she keeps me alive. She made me smile where there was nothing to smile about, made me flaunt my body when I didn’t feel sexy, made me say and to things to make customer want me, though all I wanted to do was run away… She might have saved me, but I hate who she is.” “Uhm, are you saying like there’s two people in you, or something?” Molly asked. Kiah glanced at her then looked back at her knees, “If it were that simple… I don’t know. I just seem to do and say and act instinctively sometimes, almost like something is trying to protect me, protect me from being exposed for the useless, pathetic throw-away I am. I don’t understand it, and I often can’t control it, unless I’m just.. just depressed and feel like I’m at my end… Sometimes I can snap out of it when something that really matters to me happens, like when Val tried to off herself… I hate suicide so much… It’s taken too many friends, girls I cared about from me… Maybe it is all me, somehow, but I’m too proud or scared to admit I’m so… so worthless… I think Val might have gone through the same… I wish I could say it’s not your fault or you can control it, but whatever you did, it’s your fault If you were in control or not, and if you can find a way to control it, let me know. I want to control it, but… feeling like this to make it happen scares me too much. I’ll never get that cowboy to love me like I am, so how would he love me for what’s under it all? … pretty pathetic, huh?” Some of what was said resonated with everyone in there. Ruth felt worse for being so hard on Kiah and felt bad for her that her and the others were not getting along. Maggie understood the fear, and feelings of being useless and she sat down in the recliner to quietly ponder on what she could do better. Molly wondered what she could to help ease their pains, and fight her own fears of not being enough. Valentine, though she realized she was not alone, felt a bit more despair, as she feared that bitch in herself rearing its head again if she could not figure out how to control it. Kiah’s words also drove home, further, the point that everything she had done was on her. She could not blame what the lab did to her, her not being rescued, or any of it for what had happened. What she did was all from within her, and it grieved her that she had caused so much pain to those she loved. “Then, if it was all me… How can I be forgiven for that?” Valentine asked softly. Kiah shook her head, “Don’t ask me.” Molly looked down again, “Listen, I don’t know how, honestly, but you have to forgive yourself, Val. You have to forgive yourself and work at getting them to forgive you.” “And you?” Valentine asked. “Me? You mean, do I really forgive you?” Molly asked Valentine nodded. “Yeah, I do, but like I said, I won’t forget it.” Molly replied softly. “So, what does that mean? Should I stay away from Hondo and the girls?” She asked quietly. Molly thought for a moment before shaking her head, “… No, but it doesn’t mean I’m giving you free reign of them either.” Valentine looked at her questioningly, “Then what?” “*sigh* … I’m not exactly sure yet, but… Listen, Hondo is my mate now, understand? I’m willing to share him for his good, but selfishly I’d keep him to myself, if I thought I was enough. He says I am, but I know I’m not. You are not either, especially like this. Though I’ll share him with whoever he wishes, and I believe that will be at least with you, if not others, but I’m not just standing aside for you either. He’s MINE to protect, understand? I might not be good for a lot, but I WILL protect him. He works so hard to protect us all, as does Fernando, and I want to give back. I’ll help Fernando as I can, but as my man I will try to protect Hondo with my life, and that may even mean from himself and his choices at times. As a woman I have no right to tell him no on who he wants, but I will do my best to see that they know their place and how to treat him. That means you too.” Molly said seriously. “But.. but I know him and been with him before so..” Valentine said but did not finish as Molly cut her off again. “And you failed! So, you obviously don’t know how to do it right. I also know where you come from, Val. I know about your sister here too, and how she treated her family.” Molly said. The older Valentine, Maria, turned away and pretended to stare out the window as if she didn’t hear anything, as Ruth stared at her, wanting to ask what that was, as something was off about her that bothered Ruth to her core, but it was not her place so she did not push. Molly Continued, “I know I mess up at times, and I’ve not shown Hondo the trust he deserves, but that stops today. I am determined to do better for him, and if he wants you back and you are willing to change I’m going to teach you how to treat and serve him.” “Like a slave?” Valentine asked.
