Since Jeanette said the story would take place in 2066, I thought it would be best for Hikaru if Arik dies at least several years before the trek.
 
Since Hikaru will remain physically young, I imagine she would want to get married again. However, I imagine she would only marry an Immortal just like her so she would not have to burry another husband.
 
The problem is, for a while, I had trouble coming up with a character that I approve of for Hikaru. In the past few days I have been working on an idea but right now all I have is a basic outline.

Personality: Laid back and usually easy going. Acts gruff & angry at times to hide emotions (sadness, caring, etc.) has a long fuse for real anger but isn't good to be around when the fuse is used up. Cares too much at times and hides it with prickly demeanor. Might not share his cigars, whiskey, or other random things (Especially feelings) but would be the first to take a bullet for even a complete stranger.
 
History: Not a lot is know about Hondo's early years except he was raised in the country and learned most of his skills then. He lived in many states all over the US in his younger days but always loved the west. He met Red, who he thought was the love of his life in jr high school and went to the same college she went to. she dump and humiliated him the end of his first year. She claimed he would never go anywhere, would always be poor, was a loser, and she could do a lot better. She graduated and became a nurse, her folks ran off her next boyfriend, she got depressed, ended up marrying her parents friends cousin who gave up his good job as it was too hard to sell used cars. She now lives in the Carolinas in a dumpy trailer with three kids and no money. 2 years later he met Rosie. He met Fernando online about the same time. HE helped Fernando gather info to take down a couple cyber criminal hacker groups over the next 2 years. Rosie and Hondo's relationship lasted a year. Her father was a bumbling ex-CIA agent with little man syndrome. He tried to have Hondo killed after he didn't drop out of college and get a job at the company he told him too. Later Hondo would find out that Rosie's father had helped the traitor Aldrich H. Ames gather the info that he sold to the Russians, he was kicked out of the CIA for incompetence, and after he joined US military intelligence he sold more info to old contacts. He had a ex KGB sniper that owed him try to take out Hondo on a couple occasions, hondo would later find out. He turned his daughter against Hondo in the end and Hondo had to walk away after she stole all his money and tried to trump up fake charges to the police. Fernando sent them information to prove Hondo was innocent. He graduated college in with a B.S. in engineering (electrical/computer/robotics combo) and minor in aviation/first aid/survival. worked private security for a while after he graduated. Hondo found out about a group of private detective/rescuers whom he met up with and fell in love with their female mechanic. The "leader" of the group hated Hondo for having a relationship with the gal he wanted. They proved to be too pacifistic and it almost killed them all. Hondo had enough and after being wounded, almost losing his life, and having the enemy go after his love to kill her. Though weak and wounded, he used his 1911 and a revolver he got off an old cowboy. ha had owned a few and was always a good marksman but that day changed things for him forever. He kill 11 wounded 5 that day, all hired kills out to kill them. He always carried 2 guns or more from that day on and always at least one revolver. His girlfriend couldn't take the fact that he killed men to save them. She told him she didn't want to see him ever again. much later, after she married their leader did she realize Hondo was right. She even came to him a couple times after trying to get him to take her away as her husband was abusive, arrogant, selfish, and lazy. She said she could only leave her husband if Hondo would take her back and protect her as her husband would kill her if she left on her own. She had hurt him too deeply so he refused. He said he would get her out and set her up on her own in her under a new name, but it was too late for a them. At the end of the last mission with that group, after the team left Hondo weak and bleeding out in a field of the men he had slain. The CIA was called in by the police and the closet agent at the time was one Fernando G. After explaining everything Fernando told Hondo he had been watching them. The others could get away scott free for now but the only way out for him was to work under Fernando on some missions. Hondo helped with several missions including working as a tool engineer in a company to expose it as a means to hide a drug smuggling outfit. 2 years later Hondo met Maria Valentine Patterson on an unsanctioned mission of Fernando's. Maria Valentine was on a revenge mission of her own to kill those possible for her fathers disappearance (supposed death) and the death of several family friends. Hondo rescued her from her suicide mission, and let her join them. Fernando and Hondo taught her how to be an agent and protect herself, and Hondo and Maria Valentine soon found themselves falling in love. After about 4 years total of working sanctioned, unsanctioned missions and Fernando teaching him and Maria Valentine about time travel, Hondo was free to go and he moved to the Dakotas and got a job in the oilfields. Maria Valentine ended up getting a rotational job in Wyoming as a design engineer for the oilfield and she and Hondo spent all their days off together.The oilfield is a "gun free" zone but Hondo carried anyway. After using his gun to thwart a shooting on a oil fracking site by a disgruntled ex employee, Hondo lost his Job. At this time Fernando helped get him some of his own missions and help him with his missions that extended out west. Hondo worked with the agency under the disguise of an oilfield works (at time grunt, engineer , company man, and even inspector). Hondo told the agency after his 30th birthday he was retiring from that line of work. He and Maria Valentine had saved enough money to settle down, get some land, start a company for money and a small rescue agency of their own. This story finds them as they have packed up equipment and supplies into a camper to refurbish an old cabin and change it into a safe house with underground facilities. It was to be the first of their safe house baces for their rescue agency/ but unknown to them Fernando would need them for future time traveling missions.

Interior concept: (no dinette slid out, just a fold up bar style table on that wall. Rear slide out wider to fit couch that folds out into double bed. Appliances changed out for ones below which reduces some cabinet space in kitchen, but loft extended due to 6 door truck so a lot of extra storage space there.)
