Rented Rooms
Dec 30th, 2007, 1:14pm

Rented Rooms is a feature seem on some forums, where members can have their own space on the forum, and be Moderators to their own fourms. For Us this does two things:

-If you have a rented room and are not a Forum Moderator, this puts you in line for becoming a Forum Moderator or Administrator when the need rises. In having your own mini-forum, this gives you the experience in moderating it and dealing with typical forums issues. For us- we dont have too look around and guess who would be a good moderator when we have a set already in place to look over.

-This makes the forum more friendly and more wanting of people willing to join. A member with a Rented Room is more likely to bring his friends into the forum. This creates an active forum for us.

Rented Room Policies:

-Room Renters are entrusted with the content of their rooms and are responsible for the upkeep and maintenence of their rooms. In short- keep the activities in your room clean.

-No File sharing is allowed in the Rented Rooms.

-No Adult Sexual Content.

-No Flaming and online threatening is allowed.

- The System Administrators and Moderators can lock rooms; usually after warnings were given. This is last resort measure.

-Rooms can be taken away if after warnings and room locks fail to give approprieate actions.

-Rooms will be limited to a specific number, depending on the size of the forum membership.
Currently (as of 12/07) is it set to 10. When the Forum membership passes 200 members, it be increased to 20. 500- 50 rooms, 1000- maximum of 100 rooms. There will be no more room additions made after that.

-If a room remains inactive for over a year, (ie due to illness or death of a room owner), the room will be locked, but not deleted. If the room owner returns, the room will be unlocked. In this situation, in the case of a dead room owner- the room will contninue to exist, but another room to be added for a new room renter, even if it surpasses to 100 Maximum Room Count.

-To get a room, you have to ask the Administration (Forum Moderators and Administors), where they will vote on your ownership. Member's conduct in the forum will be the basis of obtaining a room. A minimum of 3 months or 100 posts will be require to determine that conduct. Member conduct on other boards will be also be put into consideration.

-The Administration.
