Attitude

There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in
the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.'Well,'
she said, 'I think I'll braid my hair today?' So she did and she had a
wonderful day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw thatshe had
only two hairs on her head.'H-M-M,' she said, 'I think I'll part my
hair down the middle today?' So she did and she had a grand day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she
had only one hair on her head.'Well,' she said, 'today I'm going
to wear my hair in a pony tail.'So she did and she had a fun, fun day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that
there wasn't a single hair on her head.'YEA!' she exclaimed,'I don't
have to fix my hair today!'
  Attitude is everything.
Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
Live simply,Love generously Care deeply, Speak kindly.......
  Leave the rest to God.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...
It's about learning to dance in the rain!!!

Well the cowboy, like the red man, you had to leave your land
You can't raise your stock and plant your crop in the gumbo and the sand
Greed disguised as progress has put us to the test
They won't be glad until we're gone from our home out in the west
It's sad to see those good old days replaced with greed and doubt
Soon we'll leave the country, the campfire has gone out
Bid 'em all adieu, you can't turn the world about
The cowboy left the country, the campfire has gone out

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a
battle that goes on inside people.
He said, "My son, the battle is between two
    "wolves" inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret,
greed, arrogance,,self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies,
    false
    pride, unforgivness, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, unconditional love, forgiveness,
    hope,
    serenity, humility,
kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and
    faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his
    grandfather:
    "Which wolf wins?"
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

I don't really like this story.  It kinda encouranges stagnation, you know?  Like, we need to realise that a negative something is what drives us to improve.

It's like what Johan Edlund said in one of his songs: "We could even touch the sky, if we just get up on our feet and try, we could wander in the garden of Eden."

But, if nothing makes us want to get up, then we'll never get there.  But we need to do it all as a whole human race.  It's something that not only one person can do.  One person can make a great improvement in an area (like Professor Albert Einstein, President Abraham Lincoln and Dr Charles Drew), but it takes many people to work together to create a 'renaissance' in that field.  Many people need to work together and prioritise properly.  Like medicine, for example, and human rights.  We could cure cancer, explore the galaxy and make the society of equal rights.  But if we say "well, it's not so bad" then we'll never get there.

I think... this girl needs to get herself a wig, and I think scientists need to work out how to properly make hair grow.

I like this one!  It's just a shame that we can't help feed the right wolves in other people.

you missed the point of the first one completely. the point was she could do nothing about it, so instead of bein' negative an' lettin' it ruin her day or life she did her best with it an' went on with life. It doesn't mean that every problem needs looked at as good and left alone it means don't let junk get you down. like the song says "you got to rise above it!"

Well, any desire has two approaches:
1. Get what you want.
2. Be happy with what you've got.

Approach 1 is the preferred, but practical reality is that this will not always be possible at all times. Things are going to absolutely miserable for anyone who can't bring themselves to understand the necessity and value of approach 2 in certain aspects of life.

You do what you can to make things better for the future but you need to appreciate what you've got now.

Sure you can. I influence other people all the time. So do you. You need to be careful about how you do it, too. It's a big responsibility, you know.

Oh, okay.  That's totally cool.  Sorry I missed that.  I still think she would find life a bit easier with a wig. Wink

Hmm... I like that. Smiley

I know this is drifting off of the topic, but I think that technology, if developed enough, would have the power to make anything 'true', even if only in a fictional way.  Like, if someone wanted to be ruler of the world, they could be plugged into an artificial reality computer where they can live that dream.  Or, if someone wanted to date Lucy Liu, they could make a gynoid of her, like on that Futurama show.  Do you see what I mean there?  With enough work, humans could make anything possible.  Funny thing is, when we get there, we might not need to! Grin

That's a point.  But some people are outside of that influence.  You know, like, they won't listen or they don't understand?  That's the hard part! Grin
