It started with Win 95. It now runs Win 98. And tests for Win 2K looks promising (on an R-Pi 3, though he wants on an R-Pi 0).
If it can do Win 2K, it can run Win XP.

If it can run do smoothly I'll try it myself, for other applications than a watch mind you.

Well the cowboy, like the red man, you had to leave your land
You can't raise your stock and plant your crop in the gumbo and the sand
Greed disguised as progress has put us to the test
They won't be glad until we're gone from our home out in the west
It's sad to see those good old days replaced with greed and doubt
Soon we'll leave the country, the campfire has gone out
Bid 'em all adieu, you can't turn the world about
The cowboy left the country, the campfire has gone out

With the R-Pi 3, using its 1GB and 64bit Quad Core CPU, it should do it nicely. Even the R-Pi 2 with the 32Bit Quad Core CPU, it should run smoothly.
The issue I see is the amount of RAM: 1GB. It may not be enough for some things.
