Raspbian for the Intel CPU? Hello Laptops & PCs!
Dec 21st, 2016, 6:03pm

This is a strange reach by the Raspberry Foundation - they made a version of Jessie-PIXEL Raspbian for the Intel CPUs (x32/x64) which will run on PCs and Intel Based Macs and their laptops as well.

It's a 1.3GB Download and they say that you should download a program called Etcher (about 80MB) to burn the image to a Thumb Drive to make it bootable (if your system can boot from a thumb drive, check and set your BIOS for USB Drive Boot), so you do not have to format your hard drive to use it. You can also burn it as a Live CD/DVD and boot it from an optical dive but it will run slower because the optical drive itself is slow.

The article with the links (for the image and the Etcher program link) is here:

They claim that it is great for older XP/Vista single Core Intels (PIII & P4 systems) and works well with DuoCore systems. I'm downloading it to give is a try but I'm low on thumb drives.  Owning Live CD/DVDs os Knoppix and Ubuntu series, I know how slow running from a Live-CD/DVD can be. But it gives a taste of the system working on your machine.

Lets see how it goes. Too bad Macs & PCs do not have a GPIO to access... LOL!

Interesting at least. Let us know how it works

Well the cowboy, like the red man, you had to leave your land
You can't raise your stock and plant your crop in the gumbo and the sand
Greed disguised as progress has put us to the test
They won't be glad until we're gone from our home out in the west
It's sad to see those good old days replaced with greed and doubt
Soon we'll leave the country, the campfire has gone out
Bid 'em all adieu, you can't turn the world about
The cowboy left the country, the campfire has gone out
