This is a strange beast at best! It is a clone of a clone! The Banana Pi is an improved clone of the Raspberry Pi made for China by the Lemaker Corp in Germany. Lemaker, with 96boards.org, has made an 8core R-Pi clone with 2GB of RAM and an 8Core CPU!
http://www.lemaker.org/product-hikey-index.html https://www.96boards.org The premise is to create the most powerful computer on the smallest board possible while keeping the price down as possible.
But this does not stop here! No!!!
Because the Lemaker's design of the HiKey (8 core Banana Pi) was redesigned heavily, they removed a few things like the SATA Drive Port. The Chinese gov't and educational system was not happy with this design and opened a SECOND BANANA PI COMPANY and took the HiKey design and brought it back to the Banana Pi Standard I/O!
Thus this is a clone of a clone, improving on what they believe such a system needed! It's already on ebay for under $150! The webpage of this second Banana Pi company and its 8Core CPU machine can be found here:

Their other products can be found here - including the original Banana Pi which they are calling the Banana Pi BPI-M1 Classic and the Banana Pi Pro which they are calling the Banana Pi BPI-M1+Upgrade.
