You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if:
Jan 14th, 2009, 4:37pm

You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if:

It never occurred to you to be offended by the phrase, 'One nation, under God.'

You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if:

You've never protested about seeing the 10 Commandments posted in public places.

You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if:

You still say 'Christmas' instead of 'Winter Festival.'

You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if:

You bow your head when someone prays.

You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if:

You remove your hat, stand and place your hand over your heart when they play the National Anthem.

You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if:

You treat Military Vets with great respect, and always have.

You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if:

You've never burned an American flag.

You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if:

You know what you believe and you aren't afraid to say so, no matter who is listening.

You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if:

You respect your elders and expect your kids to do the same.

AND YOU ARE A TRUE AMERICAN, IF YOU THINK THE NATIONAL ANTHEM SHOULD ONLY BE SUNG

IN ENGLISH!

God Bless the U S A ! Amen !!

Well the cowboy, like the red man, you had to leave your land
You can't raise your stock and plant your crop in the gumbo and the sand
Greed disguised as progress has put us to the test
They won't be glad until we're gone from our home out in the west
It's sad to see those good old days replaced with greed and doubt
Soon we'll leave the country, the campfire has gone out
Bid 'em all adieu, you can't turn the world about
The cowboy left the country, the campfire has gone out

This one is the only one with the true spirit of the U.S. Constitution in mind - it was designed to facilitate this freedom. All the rest on the list are antithetical to that, they're just claiming people who exercise the right to freedom of expresson in a way that's not approved of by far right-wing Christian ideology are somehow not Americans, and that's a bunch of self-righteous bull.

I believe in freedom. I incidentally also do actually believe in respecting the elderly and respecting the Vets who fought to protect that freedom, but these are part of basically being a decent human being no matter where you're from, not exclusive to Americans, so I don't see them as appropriate to this list anyway.

You, on the other hand, only seem to believe in a fascism under which you seek to divide and exclude anyone not sharing your particular beliefs. Not Christian? Well, then you're not American! Not a far-right republican? Well, you're not American! Don't want the separation of church and state dissolved? Well, that's just unAmerican, every good American wants prayer in public office!

That's not truth, it's conform-or-be-villified Nazism. It's the antithesis of Constitutionally protected freedoms, and as such, it's not what this country is about.

Everybody wants the rights and freedoms WITHOUT the responsibilities.

Case in point- The Cafe!
They say that they will treat everyone equally and fair.
-They have kicked out gay members for expressing that they are gay.
-They have rediculled other religious sects in their story postings.
-They have belittled everyone there so dares shows some true intelligence and imagination.
-They banned those to point out to them issues and who tried to solve those issues.

Mind you- the Server that The Acorn cafe is in, is on American soil. All rights, freedoms and liberties of this great nation applies to its American members, and these rights and freedoms are thereby granted to its non-american members. What the admins and moderators of the cafe are doing is illegal. It Is Not A Private Club, There Is No Membership Fees and Levels of memberships... Intalking with a few lawyers about this, I can take Kage, Dr.Indy and the other to court for Rights infringement and sue them outright for stated damages that would guarentee the shutdown of the cafe for the rest of entirnity and leave them in the internet stone age. But is it worth it? Why should I f-up the activities of the other members? I am not vindictive to community- only to those who believe that they are its leaders.

See the PM I sent you Winston...

Which is a good point, I suppose. I don't believe that what the Cafe's moderation staff does is in the spirit of being truly American a lot of the time - and the odd thing is, going by original Hondo's list, "true Americans" are exactly what they'd appear to be.

This is exactly why I called out many of the points on his list as bunk. A person can swear by a lot of them and still be nothing more than a bigoted and hateful Nazi at heart.

actually, you sound like the bigoted hateful Nazi most the time. I didn't make the list and if you read it it said "You might be a true American if:" it does not say "you have to be this to be a true American" even though I agree with most of them.

What folks call freedom now a day is much more limited than it has been in the past. Unfortunately, we will see the loss of our freedoms soon as these hate crime laws get passed and anti-gun bills. these will be a few of the first. more will come later if things go as they are now.

As far as the acorn cafe goes they had the right to do what they did. it was a private forum and you agree to the rules when you register. They just stretched or relaxed rules for who they pleased. The problem is now that they are taking money from the members to run the forum. had it been mandatory to give money they would still have control as a private establishment, but they went public when it became who ever will can give.

My forum is private like theirs was. I can say what will or will not be allowed and I can change my mind with a rule change and a post to all of the change. Now If the members gave money when I asked for it they have a right to be heard as its public. I'd still have control but only through agree rules and I'd have to have a public committee to discuss and vote on any rule change.

I'd still like to see the cafe go bust as they do not run it right but I could almost care less about saving it any more.
