Work
Sep 19th, 2008, 9:48am

Well, for those of ya who don't know I started a new job last week. I'ma technician inthe engineerin'/test an' development deptment at a tool company with a $6 an hour raise over my last job. So far I enjoy the work, but this place is gonna be an on goin' story so I am makin' this thread.

Week 1: Spent the first part gettin' ready for a tool show to some company big wigs. the company I work for is divided into 8 or more smaller companies an' some of them make the tools that rival the tools from the other company. for instance, we had a group with NAPA tools come in. we also make the tools of their rivals Matco, cromwell, mac, an' a few others so for the show we had to hide all matco tools, cromwell tools, etc. in another part of our warehose so they wouldn't see them. we had 3 more shows this week that had to happen the same way so most of my tools are stuck in the far end of the ware house where I have to walk to get a tool ifin I need it. lose 5 min at least every time I need a different tool. Oh well.

Week 2: our boss is in China inspectin' tool manufacturin' places an' won't be back until the end of the month. before he left he bid on a tool rework for Matco. they messed up the the engineerin' of a tool we make for them so they will pay us to change the pieces on. we have to get 1500 done by december to stay out of trouble an' We have only one full time worker workin' on them, a forklift driver I trained on wed Still not sure ifin we can keep out butts out of hot water with this one.. also on Wed our whole warentee department got fired. 2 tool fixers an' one inventory fella who only deals with tools too far gone to fix. We now have to pick up the slack of the warantee dptment until they hire a new guy an' train him. They were fired for "stealin' " which they were nto doin', but a gal in the office that most folk, even the predidents, don't like gave the 2 repair guys the ok to have these old tool boxes an' old tools. the other guy they told him he could have some of them if he hauled them. the one fixin' guy backed out on wantin' any of them at the last minute but agreed to help load. 2 of the Presidents caught them loadin' them an' fired them the next day claimin' it as theft since the gal that let them have that stuff is out as she just had a baby. the guy that got pulled into it by the other 2 is nearly blind an' has back trouble. he cares for a daughter who is less than useless an' her son, his grandson, who is a bart. they both use this fella, but he cares for them so he'd never kick them out, but it won't be likely that he can get another job. We're tryin' to get them to let him back. pullin' strings an' such what so we'll see how that goes.  Also now I'm sick with a bad cold an' only gettin 5 hours of sleep a night. My eyes are blood shot an' I'm havin' a time of stayin' awake in class or drivin' home, but the Lord will see me through I know.

I'll keep y'all updated as the story continues.

Well the cowboy, like the red man, you had to leave your land
You can't raise your stock and plant your crop in the gumbo and the sand
Greed disguised as progress has put us to the test
They won't be glad until we're gone from our home out in the west
It's sad to see those good old days replaced with greed and doubt
Soon we'll leave the country, the campfire has gone out
Bid 'em all adieu, you can't turn the world about

Well, works been steady still. we haven't had a repair or warranty crew in a couple weeks now. they are now trainin' one of the warehouse workers to repair tools, but they want him 80% trained in under 2 months which is ridiculous.  There are far to many tools to learn in that amount of time. Oh, well. they decided to move the repair dept. back to our warehouse, next to my shop, jest a month after they moved it from our ware house to another. so far I've destroyed 3 tool boxes an' a electric impact wrench. not a lot, but there will be more soon! >B-D

was a loud argument today with the owner an' a couple of managers over a tool rework an' them bein' overworked. what a mess. Moral is low over the company, folks are afraid of losin' their jobs, politics are deadly an' the economy threatens company security.

Well, time fer a long overdue update.

Almost lost my job he recently. I was going to go back to college full time and take out a loan. I hate loans but as I have no prospects for marriage any more I felt that I could as a single person take on the bill. My work promised me to work with me on hours for classes/ they said the more the merrier, but understood ifin I needed ta cut back 'cause of school. Well, My boss gave his 2 week notice the day I announced I'd be cutting back to 15 hours a week. thet went over like a lead balloon. Well, after a talk with Pa, I decided to talk with the big boss. after thet talk we worked it out so I could work here more hours an' stil take two classes. 'cause of my offer they paid half my school bil fer this semester which is over $3000. so they wrote me a check fer  $1551.25 toward my bill. since then we have lost a few folk her. I'm sad to say this once great test engineerin' shop fer many tools has been reduced to a dog an' pony show. It is believed by afew thet the owner is reducin' overhead an' keepin' the plce lookin' like its operational to either go public, changing priorities, or sellin' out. he's too smart to let things go down the drain like they have without a reason.

The depths of crookedness in this company are too many to cont an' I have not penitraited even half of it. so far I know the owner has the funds an' contacts in 4 or 5 countries to git what he wants. one engineer her in the small engine division had a 6 point traffic violation. the police man threatened him thet ifin he took it to court he'd show up at his house. almost magically the ticket disappeared off his record the day after the owner found out 'bout it. this engineer paid nothings an' his record is clean.
The owner an' his minion have taken a few trips to islands in the gulf of Mexico and to Mexican an' south American countries thet have no tool sellin' or vacation value. their only value is money laundering and drugs. From my findin's they deal in both. what else they deal in i'm not sure. I'm sure I've only scraped the surface. I'll post happenin's an' findin's as they happen.

aslo my car is still not right. I replaced 'bout every gasket on the sucker an' now I'm losin' oil pressure when she idles an' I think I'm losin' watert somewhere. Fuel mileage has decreased by 4 MPG, the heater still don't work, an' she is runnin' a bit rough. "Friad she has a warped head or two. Oh well, guess it'll hafta git a new engine soon.

well, work update. Thought I was going to lose my job when classes started again, but the Lord is good an' it worked out so I could stay on here part time. That is good, but I'm still not sure how long it will last.

Had a blow up with the boss the other day. My  Pa used to work here before I did an' he bought several damaged items from this company to fix an' resell, with their permission. I got called into the boss's office the other day as someone reported seein' these items for sale in a local online sale 'paper'. after they posed as a buyer to get my Pa's name they reported him.  the short version of our conversation is that he accused me of stealing, then accused my Pa, an' then he accused us of unethical conduct. All of which are not true. I told him he needed to talk to my Pa 'bout it as it was between him an' Pa. I left the office an' he came to find me later. he acted all friendly an' said he wanted me to give Pa his cell number an' have him call him. he then proceeded to change the reason for his accusations he made earlier. Backpedaling, eh? well, I told Pa all of what happened an' he was so mad he wrote this guy an' e-mail instead of callin' as he knew he'd say somethin' he shouldn't ifin he called. next day the boss comes stormin' in an' tells me we have to talk in the other room, where no one else could hear us of course. He then got in my face, I mean in my face. His nose was only about a foot from mine, an he began to chew me out for his communications with Pa. I found out later they had exchanged a few e-mails over the evenin' an' that mornin'. well I was accused of lyin', stealin', an' more. he yelled an' waved his arms 'round an' he even poked me hard in the chest a couple of times. I was so mad I knew I'd deck him if I didn't keep my hands grippin' my pockets. I told him it was still between he an' Pa not me an' him comin' after me when it was obvious it was not mine but my fathers stuff is what made Pa upset in the first place. he then told me he had every right to come to me first as I was an employee an' might e smugglin' these items to Pa. I almost quit then an' there, but for need of money I'm still here. He gives me any more guff an' I'm outta here, an' it'll hurt him more than me as I am the sole technical operator of our automated test facility. My Pa wrote the programs an' designed a lot of the machines an' what he didn't I did so no engineer off the street will be able to figure it out in time to save their bacon.

Well, in other news, the big Lincoln is off the road for now. I'm goin' to clean the radiator one last time then try to sell it. I bought a 1988 Lincoln Mark VII, which is a fancy Mustang GT. she needs a little work but is drivin' good so far. I picked her up for a song from a fella who lost his job an' needed the cash.

well, that's all for now on this. I'll write more at a later date.
