Goings On @ The Rodentia Resturaunt

Another day passes and from the looks of it another member gets Banned from the Cafe.
At least here I can say my peace about the actions that happened.

First off, as Admins of any forum, they have the power to mainpulate the members actions, and should for corrective measures. The Cafe Admins did not do this- they gave warnings and then banned. Period.

The member in question, may have done a few questionable things in expressing him/her-self. In witnessing one of those questionable actions- yeah- it was bad. But was it bannable? Depends on the POV (Point Of View).

The member in question put a comment about pro-choice homosexuality in his/her signature. From what I understand, this is the reason for the banning. Is it still a bannable offense?

Now, as an Admin, we/they could have went into the user's account, deleted the offending comment and locked the account to prevent the comment to be put back in. The cafe admins did not do this.

Given: The Cafe is catered to 'Kids'
Counter point: The Average Age of the Cafe members is over 22.
Counterpoint 2:  Registration does not allow kids under 13 to join without parental verification!
Coutnerpoint 3: There are no members at the Cafe under the age of 15.
Counterpoint 4: The total number of members between 15 - 19 can all be counted on the fingers of one hand.

Given: The Cafe is suppposed to be PG.
Counterpoint: One look into Random Post on the Story Board, and you will land on anything from Rated R to Rated X.
Counterpoint 2: GsB II was deleted for going beyond the Rated PG lable.
Counterpoint 3: GsB was also deleted because the arguement of GsB II's deletion and how the stories were concluding.
Counterpoint 4: I put the Admins on notice about worst stories on the story board and questionable art on the Art board. They made promises, and nothing was done. Figures that it is an election year.

Lets get a few things straight:

1- This may be a board with adult members, but each members is to be respected.

2- I dont care about your views on sex- homo, hetero, otherwise. In short, I dont put you in my fansities, dont involve me in yours. What you do in the privacy of your bedroom- STAYS in your bedroom; I nor anyone will want to hear about it.

3- Banning as a Last step in a long process. Questions will be asked and answers be demanded. Corrective Actions will be taken, which will restrict the user in question. Suspensions may be an option in those actions. But if the everything fails, and in worse cases- the user in question tries to circumvent the corrective measures by other means, then we will BAN.

4- I got a short temper, and I dont give up on my arguement, even when I'm wrong. That is how I see things, and though I might admint I'm wrong, I wont change sides or admit defeat.

5- I'm the nicer of the admins, the others may not share my views and BAN without notice. Others maybe nicer and more understanding. But we all work as 1 and we will not question the actions of others.

6- A little respect goes a long way. If you think something is questionable- something that might irk the ire out of anyone, then dont do it. Consider that as a warning. There wont be a second chance.

I have to agree for the most part. I do feel strongly 'bout same sex relations, especially male type. (makes me ill to think 'bout it!) But I think there should have been a little more talkin' and workin' with them. the ban was too sudden, I think, and I didn't see enough trouble. I can see removin' the post, like they did to my Santa one, and leavin' it at that. Bannin' is needed only when the person keeps boldly postin' it when asked not to. borderline stuff is what admins are for. All i ask here is to keep it clean and keep you sex life in your room. If I don't know 'bout it, I can't rant.

Well the cowboy, like the red man, you had to leave your land
You can't raise your stock and plant your crop in the gumbo and the sand
Greed disguised as progress has put us to the test
They won't be glad until we're gone from our home out in the west
It's sad to see those good old days replaced with greed and doubt
Soon we'll leave the country, the campfire has gone out
Bid 'em all adieu, you can't turn the world about
The cowboy left the country, the campfire has gone out

They are pushing their "dont discuss the rules" policy, again. And they are going to make a big mistake to think that its OK to force members into such policies that limit their discussion.

Furthermore- Framwinkle is mouthing off that it was 'saying bad things about the admins' that got Soda banned and Squeak suspended. I got 5 words for that- GROW UP and GET A LIFE!

The Cafe, like this Cabin, is just a forum. People are going to sign up and not like the admininstration or its policies. But they join up because their friends might be there, and that is what forum communities is about.

For anyone who is interested, here is the link to the Forum/BBS Admins & moderators forum. It is filled with people who run their own forums, so they know what the deal is.

http://www.communityadmins.com/

Only admins and moderators should join, but anyone can go there and read! they are great people there. And No Rules about 'discussing the rules!'
