One of the PC/Laptops I have is an HP D-14 series with a Dual Core Celeron CPU (a neutered i3 CPU) with 8GB of RAM and Windows10. It’s one of those $199 laptops I got the year before for the A+ class I took back then and upgraded the RAM from 4GB to 8GB. Like all Windows systems, the laptop goes through a series of updates on a monthly schedule.

But lately Microsoft has been installing bits and pieces to install an AI onto the system, called “CoPilot.” Once all the bits and pieces are installed, it assembles the AI and has it as part of the OS. Currently I am having trouble trying to remove it, as it takes a lot of hard drive space and this laptop has about 100GBof SSD space, and the OS bitched, whined and complained that I have to delete programs and move my data files to the MS Server so that the AI can have access to all the free space on the drive. Eff That!

I found this out as I found the programming software to the newest radio I received as a gift and installing the software, the laptop did three strange things. 1) During the first attempt to install the Radio Software, the AI locked me out of the system. I had to reboot the system and try again. 2) During the second attempt the AI complained about lack of hard drive space and popped up excuses windows saying that there was low space on the drive but I forced the install. Eventually the software for the radio did install. 3) While testing the software for the radio, the AI popped up more excuses about low disk space while I uploaded the radio’s original settings into the software and save it – a Test/Data (.txt/.dat) file of 1.5K – 1,535bytes of information! The AI complained about a 1.5K space hogging up disk space, a file no bigger than a SSD’s sector!

With the file saved and software installed, I tried to delete CoPilot. It refused saying “You need Administrative Privileges to delete this software.” I am the admin and owner of the system. If I cannot delete it, I will take the system to the Microsoft store and have them remove the AI or I will format the drive and install Ubuntu on the system in front of them!

Until then I will be cautious of how I use this laptop, and will not use it to access online stores to get my credit card information, as it would subscribe me to Microsoft services I do not want and give out public access to my private files I have on my system. Microsoft installing this crap software without my permission draws the line for me. Eff Them!

That is BS! I'll have to take a look at my home PC and make sure it doesn't have it. Just need to get the linux OS I have on it up and running and start using that, I guess.
