Title: Android on Raspbery Pi?
Post by Fernando on May 22nd, 2021, 10:35pm

Years and years of "there's an Android for the Raspberry Pi but it is not one supported by Google as it is a Hack job!", somebody has come out with a fully viable and supported Android for the Raspberry Pi. It is call Emteria Android OS. But there are issues...

The Issues are that this version is that it will only run on a quad-core / 64bit R-Pi system, which limits you to the R-Pi 3 B/B+, the R-Pi 4, the Computer Modules 3 and 4, and the R-Pi 400 Computer system. Thus you need a system with 2GB minimum as per the descriptions of the units named.

In the past I posted about Android for the Orange Pi which was a hack but it did work with minimal issues to certain boards it was made for. (http://www.hondosackett.com/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1505278945 and http://www.hondosackett.com/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1506284080 ) Funny, most the Orange Pi systems are Quad Core CPU systems but only contains 1GB of RAM. But another issue arises - this is only one version of Android for the Orange Pi running on a few boards. You have to download the specific Emteria OS Android for your board. Thus if you have a R-Pi3, you have to get the android file for that system, and the Android for the R-Pi 4 will not work on the R-Pi 3 (and visa versa).

But from what I seen, this actually works without issues even though is has do be for the specific board you have. It will run music, videos and access the web without problems.

I would like to review this but strangely, my 3 R-Pi 3's have disappeared and I can not find them. Perhaps in a couple of weeks I will gather some funds together and buy them, the R-Pi 3s are cheap, usually under $30. Lets see what happens in the future. Hopefully there is a review in the works coming soon.

That's cool. Will have to find the box in my trailer that has my electronics and try it!
