I have tried to use VICE on my PC and Raspberry Pi before, coming up with problems and issues like I have with most Emulators: No ROMs, No Emulation. This is because is it “illegal” to distribute an emulator program with ROMs for a given system (Computer, Game System or Arcade). But lately there has been a move to build emulator packages with some selected ROMs with permission of the ROM Copyright holders. One of the latest to move on this is Commodore Inc. for their 8Bit and Amiga (16/32 Bit) systems.

VICE (Versatile Commodore Emulator) is a Commodore 8Bit system emulator that can replicate any 8Bit Commodore from the PET to the C128 and every machine in between. To do this it is broken up into half a dozen separate emulators for a specific machine group. For example: XPet emulates the PET/CBM Series from the original 2001 PET from 1977 to the PET 9000 from 1983; X64 emulate the Commodore 64, Commodore Max (sold in Japan) and Commodore Game System (a C64 set up to play cartridge games, with no BASIC); XVic emulates the Vic20; and so on. But before one had to chase down their own ROMs to run these VICE Emulators, now you don’t. Now you can run your favorite Commodore system straight from download.

I posted up WinVICE-X86 (32bit) v3.1 on the forum to download. If you need another version (Mac OSX, Linux, R-Pi, Win-X64, etc.), you can get it at the SourceForge Link below. It currently supports:
