The problem with O-Pi of China is constantly new boards but not giving them proper OS Support for them. It’s something the O-Pi has gotten through so many times it is almost expected. Thus in making two new boards, there is no OS Support for them as I post this. Furthermore, the webpage is partially in Germany, so the boards are in the testing phases though are on limited sales to the USA. Both go for $29.90.

The O-Pi Win Plus and the O-Pi Prime. Both are H5 Quad Core 64Bit CPUs with 2GB of RAM and the 40pin GPIO as in the R-Pi. Both have HDMI and A/V output, Wireless, Bluetooth and Gigabit Ethernet. But there are differences.

The O-Pi Prime has 4 USB Ports, one of them being a USB-OTG Port. It does not have an LCD Port but it does have a Camera Port. Strangely enough, it has if I am reading this right, 2-Mali450 GPUs. This would make frame rate and graphics processing through the room. What it does not have, like many lower end boards, it does not have a PMU (Power Management Unit). This means that options like Sleep and Hibernate are emulated through the OS and not through hardware. This also means that one is stuck with the power jack or USB-OTG jack as power input, and no battery charging capabilities.

The O-Pi Win Plus has 5 USB Ports, one of them being a USB-OTG Port. It has an LCD Port and a Camera Port, though it has 1 Mali450 GPU. It does have a PMU (Power Management Unit). This means that options like Sleep and Hibernate are done in hardware and not just software. This also means that one can the power jack, USB-OTG jack and a battery jack on the bottom of the board as power input, and has battery charging capabilities on the battery jack. Thing is, there is no Battery Jack but two solder tabs to solder a jack or battery to it on the bottom of the board.

Both are very nice boards, very similar to the O-Pi PC2+ (their first H5 CPU, 2GB board sold for over $50 when it came out but its price continues to drop to this day). Despite the software support for the O-Pi PC2+, the community developed the Armbian Linux OS for it very quickly and became one of Aliexpress’ top selling boards.

Worth it? Sounds like they are once the OS Support is there from the community. Armbian OS is being developed and tested for it as we speak.

That's cool! Both look pretty useful. Hopefully they get better on the support side as they have a pretty good setup
