Title: Upgrading the Orange Pi One to 1GB...
Post by Fernando on Sep 14th, 2016, 1:21pm

Not for the faint oh or nervous hands. It requires using Surface Mounted Technology soldering tools.

It requires that one unsolder the two 256MB DDR2 RAM Chips (one on the back and on the front of the board) and replace them with 512MB DDR2 RAM Chips. As simple as that sounds, it is not an easy feat to do. One needs a steady hand to do this and a lot of time and patience to do it. But when it is done, it would be a great mod for the unit.

Here's the You Tube Video on how to do it:

(Same video but explains why only one side was done.)

Nice but not sure my hands are steady enough anymore

I've done it on a 68K Mac Logic board and managed to get a few dead machines going again but it, for me, requires a lot of concentration and a long time to do it, and I end up with a headache when I am done.

I'd need a lot better soldering setup and it would take me a while.  My hands start to shake after a while on small stuff like that.
