I planned on doing this last year but the price of a Atrix Lapdock (by Motorola) was over $250 - way over priced!

But now I see the prices have crashed (between $35 - $75 used on ebay, with many new for under $100) and can see this as a viable project: The Raspberry Pi* Laptop!
(*Note: Works with other boards as well...)

Amazon also has new and used ones for slightly higher prices. Search on Amazon for "Motorola Lapdock"
