Special Abilities: Nyromi has a constant learning curve. She assimilates traits and attributes that she considers to be useful through encounters in the field as well as what she observes in other operatives, agents, soldiers, etc.
Clothing: Nyromi’s clothing choices can be considered as tomboyish. She dresses in athletic clothing in the summer and jeans and long-sleeved shirts in the winter. Although Nyromi does own a couple of dresses, she will only where them when necessary as she perceives them as being too delicate and too restricting. Abhorring the concept of makeup, Nyromi puts on very little if any and only for certain occasions. This has led to many incidents where Nyromi has had to borrow or purchase brand new makeup supplies due to the improper maintenance of her previous supplies.
History: Born in Dorchester, England; Nyromi was the daughter of a hard-working dockworker and an experienced port master. When the family moved to Holyhead, Wales at the age of five; Nyromi was overjoyed to be spending time with the various characters around the merchant and courier ships that frequented the coastal city. It was from these men and women that Nyromi first learned the arts of boxing, savate, parkour, and raw gymnastics. With no formal education, Nyromi also relied on these men and women who frequented Holyhead for the basics of education such as reading, writing, and business mathematics. With dreams in mind of owning and running her own merchant ship firmly set in her mind; those dreams would take a drastic turn after her mother, Janette Holmes-Lautani, went into labor with her second child.
Doctors tried to find methods of treatment; but ultimately decided to make her comfortable as Nyromi’s mother continued to hemorrhage after childbirth. Nyromi snuck in and saw her mother one last time where she was told that this was not her brother’s fault and that he would need a mother now. The week after; Nyromi went to work as bookkeeper and part-time barkeep for The Salty Slag, a local pub where her father would soon frequent. Although she was a very able bookkeeper, she took the job mainly to keep an eye on her father and limit how much he drank. Unfortunately she could not keep watch over her father and care for her brother at the same time. As her attention drifted further and further to the well-being of her growing baby brother, the health of Nyromi’s father continued to deteriorate. Two months after Nyromi had turned fourteen, the dockworkers came to the Lautani residence to inform her that Rico Lautani had suffered a massive heart attack. Nyromi went about the evening cooking dinner for her brother and putting him to bed. That night she mourned for her father as the dockworkers gave him a seaman’s burial. Later she would tell her brother that their father had to go away on a big ship and that she knew not when he would return.
In the months that followed, the owner of The Salty Slag retired and left the business to Nyromi. Unfortunately, local regulations prohibited her from actually operating the pub and the new unions kept her from obtaining work at the docks. Eager to make any kind of living for her and her brother, she sold The Salty Slag before moving to England and eventually settled in Lewisham, South London. Performing odd jobs around the city became the norm for Nyromi as she attempted to keep her brother in school. Back-alley prizefighting also became a supplementary source of income for the teenager and through this the two children had a reasonably comfortable living considering the circumstance. However, their neighborhood was not known as a quiet one and steadily deteriorated throughout the two years they lived there. Though they dealt with it as best they could, one day it caught up with them.
While walking home from the market with supplies for the week; Nyromi and her brother, Alphonse, got caught in a sudden crossfire between two rival upstart gangs. Nyromi would sustain scrapes, bruises, and a single bullet wound to her left arm; Alphonse was not as lucky. In the week following Alphonse’s death, Nyromi entered a state of severe depression. The attending officer at the scene of the incident would go to the hospital to check in on her. Some time after Nyromi’s release, the officer took her out for lunch where Nyromi ate little and said less. In the corner of the quiet pub was a sit-in Afterburner machine, the officer had asked her if she had played any video games before and Nyromi answered that she hadn’t. After the officer explained the controls to Nyromi, Nyromi played the game and completed it without losing a single life. Astonished that Nyromi could complete the difficult game with such relative ease, the officer informed Nyromi that he was a former RAF pilot and that he could sit her in an actual flight simulator. With nothing else to do and nobody to go home to, Nyromi agreed to the officer’s request.
The following week, the officer took Nyromi to his former station where he introduced her to an RAF recruiter. Again, after having the basic controls explained to her, Nyromi took to the simulator like it was second nature. After performing a few advanced maneuvers successfully, the recruiter asked which school she was going to. Nyromi confessed that she didn't have any formal education and the recruiter smiled wide. With an offer at a chance to be a real pilot, Nyromi slowly withdrew from her depression. Obtaining clearance by the Department of Children, Schools, and Families, the recruiter gave Nyromi a series of proficiency examinations which Nyromi passed relatively easily with the exception of the social study and history sections. After a one month correspondence course, Nyromi took the examinations again and passed with an acceptable mark.
After gaining full flight clearance, Nyromi distinguished herself in search and rescue and ISTAR missions so well that after only a year of service she was nominated for promotion to 1 Group. However, Nyromi's gender and ethnic background would work against her in this regard as the administrators of the RAF knew that a Gypsy in the group would cause upset among the other pilots. Nyromi was then scheduled to be transferred to the SRS, but due to paperwork discrepancies was officially transferred to the SAS.
Once in the SAS, Nyromi received specialized training and quickly began to distinguish herself in covert operations while moving between the squadrons of 22 SAS. After Nyromi’s twenty-first birthday, her list of pending commendations and promotion began to weigh in at Credenhill. Knowing that the new recruits of ’22 SAS’ would never follow the lead of a Gypsy and much less a woman, Credenhill transferred Nyromi to the SIS despite positive assessments by her immediate superiors and those who served under her command during Nyromi’s brief stint as a Lance-Corporal.
The exact details of Nyromi’s time within the SIS are classified, but what is known is that she was transferred back to the SAS within six months after an argument over effective intelligence methods with her immediate superior. After returning to the SAS, Nyromi was recommended and subsequently recruited into what would eventually become the NATO Response Force.
Serving with the NATO regime, Nyromi would distinguish herself once again in both covert operations and open combat. This time she would finally achieve an officer’s commendation, achieving the rank of Lieutenant at the age of twenty-two. Her time actively serving NATO would come to an abrupt halt soon after. After an assignment that resulted in nearly the entire loss of her platoon. Nyromi placed the blame on faulty intelligence received by the NATO brass and was subsequently reprimanded. Soon after Nyromi’s series of outbursts, she was transferred to Interpol as a liaison officer.
Working with Interpol, Nyromi completed many assignments and received much praise, but considered this to be menial work compared to what she was used to. Eventually, Nyromi was called back to NATO under a request from Italian Intelligence agency, SISDE, requiring a soldier/instructor with a mother’s touch.
SISDE has highly classified all involvement and interior information regarding Lt. Nyromi Lautani.
Skills & Proficiencies: Nyromi is an expert martial artist holding either expert or master classification in at least twenty-seven separate disciplines. She is also an expert in the use of hand-to-hand weapons. Personal Data/Characterization: Firm, but fair; Nyromi has always been a dutiful soldier and even more so upon her promotion to officer. Even before being promoted to lieutenant, Nyromi has earned the respect of nearly every soldier who has served under her whether it is as the leader of a squad or an entire unit. This mothering aspect toward her authority played a pivotal role in her selection as trainer and partner to Alpha.
Outside of military structure, Nyromi will appear kind and sweet; even borderline cheerful. This inherent kindness will often be seen as flirtatious at times by many a man. Nyromi however is no stranger to the dating scene as she has had many admirers, but they often abandon the relationship after learning of her ethnic heritage or of her involvement in the military. This constant state of rejection only drove Nyromi to further herself in her career.
When asked about any men in her life, Nyromi will refer to the men she lost in the ill-fated Algerian campaign. She often will also roll up her sleeve revealing the initials of the men she lost and the insignia of her Darkside Innocents tattooed on her left arm.
